I got to sleep in real late. And then after I got up (and blogged) I went to have lunch with my pastor Kevin. It was a great time… we had Panda Express, which is always good, especially when it is a stand-alone store away from the mall. But most importantly, we had a great conversation which was very meaningful to me. Thanks Kevin (even though I am pretty sure you don’t read this)!
Afterwards, Alisha and I went to Nature Park for a walk since it was the most beautiful day of the year. Today was in the mid-80′s with low humidity. A perfect day for a walk.
All that and cheese dogs and cookie cake… today was a good day.
I know some people don’t think the morning after blog counts (Jeremiah), but it does. Here’s the story of Tuesday…
I closed last night. It was the first time I didn’t work in the morning. That means I got to sleep in… you know how much I love to sleep in! I couldn’t sleep in a ton, because Alisha had a doctor’s appointment.
This new job has made it so much easier for me to go to appointments with her… which is definitely a good thing! I used to really hate it when she would have to get a ride from someone else just to go see the doctor. Thanks to everyone that has done so over the last few years!!!!
Everything went well at the doctor’s and we went home where I made a sandwich, folded laundry, and got ready for work. I worked until 11:30 and had 2 special visitors during the night…. Rachel (from the old job) and the McGills. It was great to see them… I love visitors!
Today was a little birthday crazy! It was my dad’s birthday (and my friend Caleb’s too)… I talked to my dad this morning, he seemed to be in a real good mood. He was going to have dinner with my brother tonight.
*Surprise, this is where I fell asleep… narcolepsy is neat!*
We went out to eat last night at a mexican restaurant to celebrate another birthday… Laura’s. Her birthday was on Sunday. It was a great time, pretty much my entire STL family was there (except for Scott, who is up in Chicago training for the Chicago Marathon).
I really can’t believe how many birthdays there have been this month… my niece Katie, my BIL Steve, my friend Luke… I am probably forgetting some. My mom’s is on Sunday too.
I always thought that September was the biggest birthday month, but there might be some competition here from March.
I am officially half way done with my training at work. Only 4 more weeks to go! I am going to be really happy to be done with the next 4 weeks of work. I have been consumed with modules and workbooks that make me want to drown myself.
Alisha filled me in on the rest of her free trip to Hawaii… it really makes me jealous that she got to go and maybe only spent $100 on gifts and what-nots. She thinks that we need to go together sometime, but I doubt that trip will be even close to free.
After watching a little basketball today, we went to Schlafly Bottleworks and sat in the lobby much longer than we sat at the dinner table. That place is much better on the slower weekdays, if you ask me. Oh well… at least we got out of the house for a while (together).
Alright, this might be the earliest blog that I have had in at least a month! What am I going to do with the rest of the night??
She had a great trip, but more importantly… she thought that the newly sealed floors looked great!
We spent the afternoon (and the evening) being jetlagged together. We took a monsterous nap on the couch, probably 3 or 4 hours, maybe more- it’s hard to know.
I almost forgot to blog tonight… I had it pulled up and then I got totally sidetracked by the Xavier/Kansas State game that went into double overtime. I started to roll over to go to sleep and then remembered that I never actually typed anything.
Today I had a full day meeting concerning a product relaunch that we are about to do. Afterwards, I went to the Blues game with my friend Ben… he had some really sweet tickets given to him and he shared them with me! The best thing (outside of getting to spend some rare time with Ben) was that the Blues actually won (which is also rare).
Ok, 3:30 is going to be here before I know it! Good night.
Oh yeah, Alisha is back tomorrow afternoon. It will be great to have her back!!
So, yeah… I slept in today. I had a ton of stuff that I needed/wanted to do, but sleeping in until almost noon can really hinder that. No big deal, I just might need to stay up a little later tonight to make up for it.
I had promised Alisha that I would reseal the slate in our kitchen and bathroom, but this week has flown by with ton of much funner stuff than resealing slate. So after I went to the store and got the stuff needed and had Jeremiah help me move the stuff out of the kitchen, instead of starting on the project we ate dinner and then went to our friend Luke’s birthday party (yeah, he is the KFC model… the waitress was real impressed by that fact).
After I got home I prepared the floors for the sealant by cleaning them throughly- sweeping, vacuuming, swiffering, wiping, mopping, and now waiting. In a few more minutes it will be dry and I can finally get to work. I don’t think it will take very long… I hope not at least. Good thing I don’t have to be at work too early tomorrow- only 9am.
I tweaked the blog page a little bit (and may do some more tweaking over the next few days). I moved the good o’ video vault up to the top and updated the videos. All the videos that have ever appeared on the blog can now be found there. Including the take back: berlin video. I have linked to that blog site a few times, but have never put the video up here. The trip is right around the corner (2.5 weeks to be exact)… I am trying to stay optimistic that everything will come together for this trip despite the late start that we have gotten. Everything is planned, the Berliners are aware and excited that we are coming, and our team is prepped on our goals and objectives. The resources are still coming in and are much appreciated by all- thank you!!
Whew… I am tired! I definitely should have taken a nap today. I worked until 1pm today and then spent the rest of the afternoon getting stuff done.
*This is when I fell asleep last night blogging!*
I hung out with Joe and my two great nieces. It was great to spend time with them. I fed Paisley a bottle and held her for a long time as Joe was occupied with a very tired Elle and all the injustices she felt in the world.
My favorite part of the night was when wanted me to ride bikes with her… and race her. I have a feeling Joe is going to have her watching the Tour de France this summer.
By the way… Alisha thinks I wear that green shirt too much.
If there is one thing that I like more than pork roast with secret sauce… it’s when I get to go over to my sister Debbie’s house to enjoy it. I got that opportunity tonight and it was sweet. The food was delicious and the foosball was furious. I haven’t really spent much time with her or her husband Ron recently, so it was great to get the time tonight.
Ron is an active blogger (probably for the last 8 years) and if you ask nice enough over his his blog (listed over on the right) you might be able to convince him to post the classic picture that I saw of him tonight from 30 years ago when he was attempting a mustache. It was pretty impressive.
Anyways, tonight was a ton of fun, and for the second day in a row I wore one of Alisha’s least favorite shirts. She thinks that it is too tight. I think she is intimidated by my muscles.
Saturday started off early again with me taking Alisha and her sister Angie to the airport so they could fly to Maui. Angie won a (completely) free trip to a really nice resort there from her job for her sales performance in 2009. I have tried really hard not to be jealous about this, I’m not sure how successful I’ve been though. I kept telling Alisha that her being gone was like a vacation for me… I don’t think she found that funny.
They made it there safely, it only took them a full day of travel. Hawaii is not close. A mere 5 hour time difference.
After I got off work, I intended to go home and take a nap. But I had to drop the smart drive, that has all of Quest’s announcement slides on it, over at our pastor Kevin’s house because I knew that I would not be interested in being at church early. I ended up staying over there for 5 or 6 hours! We ended up just chatting for a while, and then after avoiding Diane’s intense efforts to get me to try artichoke, we went to go get pizza. After pizza with the whole family, we played the most insane game of spoons ever.
Kevin was close to losing the game and brought an intense focus to hang in there. Megan, a 15 year old neighbor who was hanging out with us lost. And in the Hughes’ household, if you lose at spoons, you have to do an embarrassing task of the groups desire. So we wrapped her up in toilet paper and made her walk the block trick-or-treating as a mummy. It was pretty sweet! She got a few boxes of girl scout cookies, some candy, and a can of refried beans. Of course we all feasted on the cookies and shared a big laugh about how fun the night was.
