    good o’ 234

4:30am is worth it when you get off at 11:30am.  But it still makes you sleepy.

After I took Alisha to another doctor’s appointment this afternoon, I took one of the best naps of my life (at least top 5). I did not want to get back up, it made me crabby to wake up… I must have gotten up on the wrong side of the couch, because it put me on edge not being asleep anymore.  I had started a dream cycle and woke up before it was over- that never works out well.

Anyways, Jeremiah and I had a German Leadership Bilingual Team meeting tonight. Just to prove how bilingual I am I shared with them about drinking strawberry punch while bowling (auf deutsch of course!).  It was important for us to go so that we could give the team a full update of what is going on with our vision trip to Berlin next month.

After that, Alisha and I finally got around to watching the most recent episode of The Office- the birth episode.  I’m glad that we finally had the time to watch it.  I, for whatever reason, didn’t realize that the birth episode was going to be this early.  I figured that it would be a cliffhanger at the end of the season, but the kid wouldn’t actually come until the start of the season in September.  That’s when all the good birthdays are!!

Ok, I am up way past my bedtime… nighty night.

What a long day of work… 6am to 3:45pm!  Just kidding… I think I am starting to get spoiled!

I am really tired though, I stayed up later than I wanted to working on the Sunday Night Movie.  I am going to have to be diligent to get that thing out earlier than I have been.  Speaking of the vlog… that was a portion of Molly’s imitation of a velocirapt0r from Jurassic Park- just to answer your questions.

Today was another great spring day… sunny and 70. After Alisha’s iron infusion (which looks like she is getting crude oil pumped into her port), I went to the park with Jeremiah and played some catch. I kept having him kneel down like a catcher, give me signs, shake him off, and then wind up just to throw it way over his head.  I felt like Lucy pulling the football out from underneath Charlie Brown.

I capped off the night with some of Alisha’s world famous white chicken chili and we watched House. Overall a good day, and now it is time for bed… I’ve got to be up in 6.5 hours.

    Wedding in Memphis.

That was supposed to be sung like that stupid song by Marc Cohn.

Well, wedding season is now officially over for us. 2 in 2 weeks.  Alisha was a bridesmaid in both of them.  She is tired.  Good thing she gets to go to Hawaii in 2 weeks (all expenses paid- her sister, Angie, won a trip from work)!

Angie brought her down to Memphis on Friday and I came down on Saturday morning.  It was an easy drive, about 5 hours.

At the wedding, I sat down next to Alisha’s friend, Molly, who I haven’t seen in about 3 years. She used to live in STL before she became a traveling nurse.  She is currently living in Atlanta, where she is working on her Master’s Degree.  She was there with her boyfriend, Jeff.  I really enjoyed spending time with them… It was too long of a season to be Molly-free.

We really wanted to hang out with them on Saturday night… Molly, Jeff, and Stephanie went to Beale Street and had BBQ.  Alisha was far too run down to go out.  Instead her and I stayed in and watched an HBO special about Larry Bird and Magic Johnson… the show was great.

And that’s how you do Memphis in March!

    good o’ 230

I would just like to point out that Easter is now less than a month away… I am so excited about it.

Easter is always in the thick of spring, but how nice it was today is helping me fast forward to Easter.

Today I got off work at 1 and went and had lunch with one of my friends from my old company, Jeff.  It was real good to see him.  I hardly talk to him anymore (which makes me sad).

After I got home, I went to the park with Jeremiah and Harry (and his kids) to play some catch. The girls ended up playing fetch with all the balls we had brought to the park… I think I wore them out making them run all over the place.

Since Alisha is down in Memphis (I will be joining her tomorrow) the Foertsches invited me over for dinner- Garbonzo bean explosion.  We went to Dairy Queen after dinner for their blizzard sale and then ended up going to the Record Exchange and looking through the millions of vinyl albums and CD’s.  That place is like a self-guided history lesson. I didn’t find the CD’s I was looking for, but that’s ok… it was fun.

I got home early so that I could get to bed early to be rested for my drive tomorrow.  I have spent the last hour blogging… rather, I have spent the last hour sleeping as I type complete randomness.  I hope anything on this post makes sense… I have been up since 3:30!

Ok, good night… I have to be up early tomorrow.  Not as early as today, but earlier than I want to!

    good o’ 229

Tonight was Angie’s (Alisha’s sister) birthday party- specifically her sweet 16 party. I won’t reveal her age, but she is older than Alisha.  So why a “sweet 16″ party?  Because she didn’t get one on her actually 16th birthday.  I think she got food poisoning or something, and with her daughter’s 16th birthday now being within a year, it became important to makegood on the milestone birthday.

We had balloons, tiaras, light-up rings, and sushi.  She had a great time. But part of that great time involved me actually eating sushi… gross.  I had chicken fried rice and salmon dumplings, which I was more than happy with.  But the entire table insisted that I try the sushi.  It was so disgusting!  I ended up spitting it up into Alisha’s hand… she started gagging, it was awesome.

Ok, I have to be at awake in 5 very short hours… that’s all the blog you get tonight.

    good o’ 228

Tonight I finally made good on a promise that I made quite some time ago.  My nephew Chris and his wife Laura started going to this new church in St. Charles, MO, Matthias Lot- they have been there probably about a year and a half now (maybe longer, I don’t know exactly).  Since they started going there, I have wanted to come check it out, but just never did it.  No good reason… their services are on Wednesday night and for about the last year I have been working about 7 minutes from them.

I finally went, I am so glad that I did.  I enjoyed it greatly… the sermon was really good, the pastor had a lot of passion and drove his point well- he even used those old Holiday Inn Holidomes as a example of the temporary lodging that this world is for us (1 Peter 2:11).  The worship was fantastic.  The people were welcoming.  There was a lot of energy from the young crowd that was there.

But one thing stood out to me… change. I love going to church with Chris, I love worshipping next to him… and have had that opportunity for many years to do that.  But he has branched out and found a place to serve (currently employed part time with Matthias) and it was so good to watch the change in him, to watch him give his time and energy to the people of that church.

I could go on and on about the specifics of that change… but I am just going to leave it at this… I am really proud of Chris for seeking change and choosing to honor God, and doing what he can to help others in that same process.

I’m just sorry it took me this long to observe it.

    good o’ 227

I finished the initial set of books given to me today.  Which means that the rest of the week will be live action. That will be a good thing… books = boring.  I was trying to stay confident that this job was going to be a good fit and that I had made the right decision to switch.

That’s when I was given this obvious sign of affirmation…

That’s my friend Jeremy Nevil pictured in Afganistan where he is currently stationed with the Army.  His smiling face was attached to our bulletin board, and gave me a ton of peace about things (from halfway around the world)!

If you don’t know Jeremy… that’s too bad, he is a great guy.  He used to live in St. Louis with his wife Tiff (probably the most bubbly girl in the world).  They moved to Washington so that he could join the Army.  It’s been about 3.5 years since they have been gone… I know because just before they left, I asked Alisha to marry me… Jeremy was the first non-family member I told that I had a ring- he was good to reassure me that I was doing the right thing.

Honestly, I don’t know Jeremy the best (I can’t wait until he gets back, cause he’s the kind of guy you want to know well)… but I associate him with good things (the whole marriage thing has worked pretty decent so far!)… so this new job has to be a good thing for him to endorse this way.

Thanks Jeremy!!   If there is anything else you want to put your stamp of approval on… I am going to demand that you do it in person… let’s get you back where you belong!

No way! You work at THAT Sbucks? Too funny! They were the nicest store! They donated cups etc to Jeremy and totally made him famous on the FOB (Forward Operating Base). He would walk around with his Sbucks cup (and his Sbucks coffee he brewed in a 1972 coffee maker) and people would stop him and ask him where the Starbucks was! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! It brought people to his room even!

He he he he he…and I remember with total girlish giddiness the day he called me and told me you came by and showed him the ring. He was so excited for you guys! We both were!

Thanks for all the support and encouragement you and Alisha give us. We are excited and nervous to move back home and just keep praying God paves the way for us!

And good thing you are at an AWESOME store like that!

It was sooooo exciting to see you the other day. This Sbucks has been great! Like Tiff said, they donated the cups, lids, etc. Jeremy had said it would be really cool to have them, so for his b-day, I went and asked…doesn’t hurt to ask, right? Well, they were great! I did buy some coffee for him from there, too. Anyway, Brad seems to be a great guy….does it mean you go there alot when he knows who you are when you put your order in through the drive-thru or just that he’s great at Customer Service! (I really only go there on Friday as a treat to myself, but not every Friday…Thursday that I saw you was an exception) They keep me coming back!

    good o’ 226

Ok, the first day is in the books. It was a little anti-climatic… actually a little boring.  It was a lot of book work, going through modules of things that I need to learn.  I am going through a bit of a fast tracking process, attempting to learn the front line of the job within a week.  I think I just need to push through the few dozen books (even though it won’t be fun) just to get to the hands on learning time.

Seriously, I don’t have anything to complain about.  I got out of work at 3:30 today (I didn’t know what to do with myself) and was home in plenty of time to watch Pardon The Interruption on ESPN and take a little nap. I could really get used to that!!

I went and picked up Ron and Debbie at the airport tonight, and I wasn’t rushing to get there after work… it was pretty sweet.
